Michigan
- Beer City Dog Biscuits (3019 Coit Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505). Handmade dog biscuits & merchandise for purchase online & at selected stores. A family friend works here.
- Brody’s Be Cafe (7267 Thornapple River Dr SE, Ada, MI 49301, Tel 616.682.5641). M-F 7:30am-3pm, Sat 9am-12pm. Visited once.
- Maggie’s Be Cafe (6490 – 28th St, Hudsonville, MI 49426, Tel. 616.209.7370) M-Sat 8am-2pm. Serve Panera Bread bagels & Chick-fil-A items 11am-2pm. Visit whenever I’m west of Grand Rapids.
- Stir It Up Bakery (3170 Chicago Dr Door B, Hudsonville, MI 49426). Walk Up Window Wed & Fri 8am-1pm, Sat 8am-12pm. Cookies, Cake Pops, Granola, Muffins, Scones, Cinnamon Rolls, Lollipops & More.
New Jersey
- Clean Water Cafe at Liquid Church (299 Webro Dr, Parsippany, NJ 07054). Sun – Th 8am-2pm. Coffee, Pastries, Chick-fil-A sandwiches & salads for lunch. Lots of electrical plugs, strong Wifi, spacious, great place to meet up with people & work. Visit regularly with JP.
- Ethan & the Bean Cafe (98 Main St, Little Falls, NJ 07424, Tel 973.863.3294). Mon-Sat 8 am to 4 pm, Sun 9am-2pm. Coffee, Cookies baked on site. Visit regularly with JP.

- Sorriso Kitchen (252 Main St. Chatham, NJ 07928, Tel 973.665.8068). Tues-Sun 9am-3pm. American, Brunch, Cafe. Food is tasty & creatively designed. Visited several times.
Virginia
- Cameron’s Coffee & Chocolates (9639 Fairfax Blvd., Fairfax, VA 22031, Tel 703.278.2627). M-F 8am-5 . Delicious Belgian chocolates made on site. Coffee & Tea. Visited August 2024.
- Jake’s Gourmet Popcorn (6328 Seven Corners Ctr, Falls Church, VA 22044, Tel 703.621.0258). 30 flavors of tasty popcorn, from traditional favorites to unique concoctions.
- Jake’s Ice Cream (6353 Columbia Pike, Falls Church, VA 22041, Tel 571.378.1855). Barcraft Plaza, located next to Starbucks. Handcrafted ice cream made on site. 28 flavors. M-W 3pm-8pm, Th-Sun Noon-8pm. Visited twice in August 2024.
- Simply Be Coffee Shop (208 Church St. SE, Leesburg, VA, 20175, Tel 571.360.3115). A place to relax, socialize & enjoy some of the finest coffee in the region. Visited August 2024.
Throughout the U.S., there is a chain of cafes called Bitty & Beau’s Coffee that employ people with disabilities. I’ve tried the one in Charleston, SC.
In FRANCE, there is a chain of café-restaurants called Cafe Joyeux (“joyful cafe”) in Paris & other locations.
